In the monotheistic framework, humans are not consumers or owners; we are stewards (khalifahs). This is an ontological status that defines our relationship with all of creation.
The mandate of the steward:
- Preservation: Maintaining the natural equilibrium (mizan) of the world.
- Reformation: Actively dismantling extractive systems and building those that serve the public interest (maslahah).
- Accountability: Recognizing that every action has both material consequences and spiritual weight.
When humans act as stewards (khalifahs) rather than NPCs, they manifest agency and drive the transition toward universal prosperity.
