The capacity for independent choice and deliberate action based on internal principles rather than external programming.
Agency is the human ability to move from being an NPC—a reactive node in a system—to a sovereign Viceregent (khalifah) of reality.
Two core aspects of agency:
- Moral and Ethical Integrity: Making decisions that align with the Divine Order, regardless of social pressure or personal cost.
- Viceregency (khalifah): Recognising that you have a mandate to actively build, protect, and reform the world, not just exist within it.
Agency is the outcome of purification (tazkiyah). When the heart is clear, it can act with intentionality. This transition from “reaction” to “creation” is the key to universal prosperity.
