A secular ethical framework that defines “good” based on the maximization of happiness and the minimization of harm.

Utilitarianism is a common attempt to find a secular solution to the crisis of values. However, it suffers from several flaws in the monotheistic framework:

  1. Moral Subjectivity: It bases ethics on shifting human preferences rather than an absolute, divine anchor.
  2. Harm-Reduction Myopia: It reduces morality to the avoidance of negative consequences rather than the proactive pursuit of divine alignment.
  3. Fragmentation: It treats human needs as siloed functions (material comfort, physical health) rather than an integrated whole.

In contrast, the monotheistic idea of prosperity is not about utility; it is about stewardship and the fulfillment of the innate nature (fitra).
