Large-scale, complex societal problems—such as social, economical, and resource overshoot that cannot be solved through individualist or purely technical fixes.
We view Grand Challenges as separate problems to be “fixed” by specialist experts. We treat malnourishment with better logistics and climate change with green energy. Yet, despite trillions in investment, these challenges continue to escalate because we are treating symptoms, not the source.
Grand Challenges are moral and epistemological failures. They are the inevitable result of an economic system that prioritises extraction over circulation. You cannot solve a challenge created by infinite growth logic by using more growth-driven tech. GCs are signals from the ecosystem that the underlying “operating system” of human society is in conflict with the Divine Order.
Addressing GCs requires a shift. My thesis: only a monotheistic-framework that recognises the complex interdependence of all creation and can provide the meta-dimensional social justice solution required to move from depletion to regeneration.
