Aristotle’s original rhetorical framework remains the primary blueprint for all modern persuasion, from political propaganda to consumer micro-targeting.

By understanding these pillars, you develop a mental firewall against manipulation. Most people are “Emotionally Driven” (Pathos-dominant) and thus easy nodes in a social-algorithm.

The Framework:

  1. Ethos (Credibility): “Who is saying this? Can I trust them?” Symbols of authority and influencer trust often bypass auditing.
  2. Logos (Logic): “Does this make sense? What is the evidence?” In our current epistemological crisis, Logos is often the weakest pillar.
  3. Pathos (Emotion): “How does this make me feel?” This is the primary weapon in the attention economy, triggering non-thinking action.

When Pathos is combined with false Ethos, Logos is often discarded entirely. This results in functional illiteracy: the ability to read words but the inability to audit the intent.
