Gender confusion is the civilisational symptom that follows role-abandonment across both sexes. When men no longer know what their function is and women no longer know what theirs is, the result is not liberation but a generation that lacks purpose, direction, and stable identity. The modern West is producing this outcome at scale: rising rates of identity crises, depression, addiction, and escapism among both young men and young women.
The confusion is not accidental. It is the logical consequence of a cultural project that dismantled traditional gender roles without replacing them with anything coherent. Liberal feminism told women that wifehood and motherhood were insufficient. The counter-movement that followed told men that provision, protection, and leadership were oppression. What neither offered was a functional alternative framework for what men and women are supposed to do together. The vacuum that remains is filled not by freedom but by nihilism, as the term already present in the Lexicon documents.
Islamic tradition does not permit this ambiguity. Masculinity and femininity are defined by function within a divinely ordered household: men as providers (qawwamun), women as mothers and custodians of lineage. These are not arbitrary roles but complementary positions within a framework designed to produce stable families, raise children with moral grounding, and orient the household toward God. The confusion is not a feature of progress. It is the collapse that follows when a civilisation abandons its own operating manual.
