Not “learning to code”. The study of what can be computed at all, and how efficiently, independent of which language happens to be fashionable this decade.

A Computer Science degree usually covers: theory of computation, algorithms, systems, and increasingly data science and security, in a curriculum guideline revised roughly every decade (most recently Computing Curricula 2020). That’s worth separating from the popular conflation of “Computer Science degree” with “learned to write code”: coding is one applied skill that sits inside the discipline, not a synonym for it, and it’s that applied, executional layer AI automation is currently compressing, not necessarily the theoretical core underneath it.
